Episodes 4 and 5 address trickier, heavier, more personal issues than anything we've done before--specifically, in this episode, my 15 year on-again, off-again love/hate flirtation with crack cocaine, and next week, Pauly's ongoing relationship with prescription opiates.
I will write a more detailed companion piece to this topic soon, but for now I won't deconstruct the subject matter too thoroughly and let the content speak for itself.
Suffice it to say it was not a particularly joyous process to come out with this information, but I felt it was necessary to serve part of the show's purpose and to deliver on my steadfast belief that the best way to comprehend "addiction" and "drug abuse" is to first have an honest and transparent conversation about drug use, including my own.
